The 57th Street Art Fair takes place on 57th Street, between Kenwood and Woodlawn Avenues (vicinity of William H. Ray Elementary School).

​This is approximately six miles south of the Chicago Loop off Jean Baptiste Point du Sable (Lake Shore Drive) in the Hyde Park neighborhood.

There are several spaces on various streets surrounding the Fair in addition to several reserved spots on 57th Street between Blackstone and Kenwood Avenues.

(Enter 57th St westbound from Blackstone Avenue and notify a security guard at barricades).

Street parking is available on streets surrounding the Fair.

From the North
Head south on Jean Baptiste Point du Sable Lake Shore Drive and turn right onto 57th Street. Get in the right lane and follow 57th Street to the Midway Plaisance and turn right (west). Street parking  is available on the Midway in addition to side streets. Walk north to 57th Street.

From the South
Via I-94: Take I-94 West to the Garfield Boulevard exit (exit 57). From the exit ramp, turn right and continue east on Garfield/55th for approximately one mile into the entrance of Washington Park. Bear right onto Morgan Drive for a half-mile, and bear right again onto Payne Drive for about a third of a mile, then turn left on Midway Plaisance. Continue east on Midway Plaisance and look for street parking. Walk north to 57th Street.

Via the Indiana Toll Road and Chicago Skyway
Exit the I-90 Chicago Skyway at Stony Island Avenue. Continue north on Stony Island and turn left (west) on to the Midway Plaisance or 55th Street and look for street parking. Walk towards 57th street.

From the West
Follow 290 East or 55 North to Jean Baptiste Point du Sable Lake Shore Drive and continue south. Exit right on 57th Drive. Turn right (west) on the Midway Plaisance and look for street parking. Walk north to 57th Street.

CTA #6 Jackson Park Express bus travels regularly from downtown Chicago to Hyde Park. Catch the bus southbound along State Street in the Loop. Get off at 55th or 57th Street, walk under the train tracks, and continue west to the Fair.

Metra

Metra Electric Line trains to and from downtown Chicago stop at the 55th/56th/57th Street station, just two blocks from the Museum's north entrance. (Turn right as you exit the station heading towards  Lake Park Avenue.) For travel to and from Indiana, South Shore Line trains also stop at the 57th Street station.

A less direct train route is to take a CTA Red Line  or Green Line train to Garfield and transfer to an eastbound 55 Garfield bus. However, we suggest that people unfamiliar with the city may prefer to take CTA trains as far as downtown, then transfer to an express bus or the Electric Line as mentioned above. 

Suggested downtown transfer: take CTA trains to Jackson (Red or Blue Line) or Library (Brown, Orange, Pink or Purple Line). Exit the station and walk less than a block to the NW corner of State and Van Buren, where you can catch the 2, 6 or 10 buses (see above for descriptions).

The 57th Street Art Fair is easily reached by bike on the beautiful lakefront path, just east of Jean Baptiste Point du Sable Lake Shore Drive. (From downtown, the ride is approximately eight miles.) Just north of 57th Street, follow the ramp down into the underpass below Jean Baptiste Point du Sable Lake Shore Drive, then up to 56th street and head west. Turn left (south) at Lake Park Avenue. Turn Right on 57th Street and head to the Fair. Check the City of Chicago's bike map for details on other routes.
