57th Street Art Fair takes place on 57th Street, Between Kenwood and Kimbark Avenues (vicinity of William H Ray Elementary School at 5631 S Kimbark Chicago, IL 60637)

CHECK IN BEGINS AT 8:00 A.M. SATURDAY IN THE RAY SCHOOL CAFETERIA (57th and Kimbark). ARTISTS ARE REQUIRED TO REGISTER IN PERSON AND PRESENT PHOTO IDENTIFICATION.

Artists may leave displays overnight, Saturday, at their own risk. Security will be provided, but any damage or loss will be the responsibility of the artists and not the Art Fair Committee. Illinois State sales tax is 9%. Individual artists are responsible for collecting this tax. The 57th Street Art Fair is not liable for this tax.

Unloading, Parking & Set-up Instructions:

  1. You may start unloading as early as necessary on Saturday morning. The fair must be set up by 10:00 a.m. You may utilize only the booth space assigned to you. Please double check booth numbers.
  2. Artists whose booths are located in the schoolyard must use the adjacent streets and alley to unload. No vehicles may be driven onto the schoolyard.
  3. Please unload your vehicle as quickly as possible. Do not unload until you have a spot at the curb. No double parking is permitted. As soon as you are unloaded, your vehicle must be moved. Parking areas are shown here. Please note, additional parking is available on the Midway this year. Unattended vehicles on Fairgrounds will be towed.
  4. Unloading access routes: West on 57th Street from Dorchester to Kenwood; South on Kimbark Avenue from 55th Street; East on 57th Street to Kimbark; East on 56th Street from Woodlawn Avenue.

Sunday Departure Instructions

  1. All artists can begin breaking down at 5:00 p.m. NOTE: If you are on the west side of Kimbark, you must remove your belongings to the grass to allow for a clear curb in front of your booth space.
  2. Artists will have vehicular access to Kimbark, the alley and 57th Street ONLY when all materials have been packed (including tenting) and a volunteer committee member gives you a ticket. Traffic passes will be distributed when space for your vehicle is available.
  3. Police, committee members and volunteers will be at the intersections of Kenwood and 57th Street, Kimbark and 56th Street, Kimbark and 57th Street, and at the 56th Street entrance to the alley to assist you.
  4. Take your junk with you! All refuse must be disposed of in a trash receptacle. Do not leave behind articles of any kind on streets or lawns.

Artist Housing

Again this year, we are pleased to announce a low cost housing option located on the University of Chicago campus. International House (I-House) has two floors of recently renovated rooms available for rent during the Fair. Limited parking is also available.
